Chocolate Biscuit Cake

Chocolate Biscuit Cake

This was always very popular with my children and was likened to tarmac or road surface! Fortunately for your teeth and taste buds it is nothing like that, it is yummy and needs no cooking.

For the cake

  • 230g digestive biscuits
  • 2 tablespoons treacle
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 75g sultanas or raisins
  • 75g plain chocolate
  • 2 level tablespoons cocoa
  • 120g margarine (must be a high fat content one eg.70%) or butter
  • I square 20cm baking tin

  1. Crush the biscuits with a rolling pin in a plastic bag
  2. Melt the margarine and treacle gently
  3. Add the cocoa, sugar and fruit
  4. Add biscuits and mix well
  5. Put in the well-greased tin. Flatten down
  6. Leave to harden but it shouldn’t be rock hard
  7. Melt the chocolate and spread over the top. Leave to harden then cut into squares.
  8. place in a pre heated oven – gas mark 4 for 40 min
